Of course, poverty and lack of education are always the root for most criminals. However, finding a solution for those problems is not as simple as people thought.
I remember one college basketball couch once said, when asked about the poor graduation rate of black athletes students, you can take a drunken to the river, but its up to him wealth or not to drink the water. He can say that because he himself is also black.
There is a Delta school district there , the average score of the students there is 26% , but the school board can never pass a bill to increase property tax. Those areas have high rate d student drop out, high poverty rate, and higher crime rate, including gun crime. No business want to operate in those areas, because of high cost and difficult to find quality employee. too many shop lifters.

Guns can never solve the problem of poverty, but as long as there are those who believe they can take away wealth from others using force, we need guns to defend ourselves . The same reason as why United States need a strong military presence in the world.
