It is possible to get a FREE vaccination / immunization shot against Yellow Fever in Bogota but it is tricky.There is no longer any facility at the new El Dorado international airport to do so. We asked at the info desk and after some discussion were sent to the second floor but there is no Red Cross (Cruz Roja) office there. It seems even the info staff there do not know the airport yet. But it is possible to get the shot at the main bus Transportation Terminal, where there is a Red Cross clinic. However, their hours are limited - Monday through Friday they are open from 9 to 5 with an hour lunch break, but they close at 2 PM on Saturday and are closed on Sunday. If you make it there during their hours, the shot is FREE.




There are also some hospitals to get the shot for a fee of under $50, which is still much less than in the USA.




Note that a Yellow Fever shot is not required to enter Colombia, and most of Colombia outside of the Amazon region is free of Yellow Fever. You also do not need it to enter the USA after visiting Colombia. But if you have the time, and need one for another visit to a yellow fever area, it is worth trying to get it for free in Bogota.
