近年来，中华人民共和国与非洲国家建立了越来越紧密的联系，是非洲最大的贸易伙伴. 2007年, 中国公司在非洲投资了10亿美元。AU未来联盟的目标包括建立自由贸易区，关税同盟，单一市场，中央银行和共同货币，从而建立经济和货币联盟。目前的计划是到2023年建立一个单一货币的非洲经济共同体。
In recent years, the People's Republic of China has built increasingly stronger ties with African nations and is Africa's largest trading partner. In 2007, Chinese companies invested a total of US$1 billion in Africa.The AU future confederation's goals include the creation of a free trade area, a customs union, a single market, a central bank, and a common currency, thereby establishing economic and monetary union. The current plan is to establish an African Economic Community with a single currency by 2023.
